Our industry is broad in scope. It spans multiple areas with many applications for the technologies involved. For the most part, it includes the following home sub-systems: home entertainment, lighting, HVAC, security, computing and communications.
We are “systems integrators.” We integrate the above systems to work harmoniously in unison and enable them to be controlled from a central location. This is called Home Integration. The devices in these areas are attached to a network, which enables their communication. They can then be programmed and automated to complement one’s lifestyle habits. This is called Home Automation or Smart Home technology.
Smart Home TechnologyFor example, when Mrs. Smith arrives home, she enters a code into the touch panel. The security system is disarmed, her favorite music selections begin to play, the television is turned to her favorite station, the lights in the foyer, kitchen, and living room are turned on and zone temperatures are comfortably adjusted.
